1. Who We Are

Noctaras ("we", "us", or "our") is a sleep app offering guided meditations, sleep sounds and stories, breathing exercises, a personalized nightly audio session, and a private journal, available at noctaras.com and on iOS and Android. For any privacy matter, reach us at privacy@noctaras.com.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

• Journal notes and nightly check-ins you write in the app
• Setup preferences you choose (your name, sleep goals, the profile that best fits you, and your preferred bedtime), used to tailor what the app suggests
• Your email address, if you join the waitlist or create an account
• Payments are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see or store your card details.

Information collected automatically:

• Basic, aggregated usage data (which features are used) to improve the app
• Device type and general location (country level only)
• IP address (kept for security, not used to track you)

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the app and its content
• To personalize what the app recommends, using the preferences you set
• To process subscriptions and manage your account, through the app stores
• To send transactional emails (receipts, account confirmation) and waitlist updates
• To respond to your support requests
• To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
• To send product updates, only if you opt in

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your journal or listening history for advertising. We do not build behavioral profiles for third-party marketing.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run the app:

• Google Firebase — account sign-in (if you create an account) and hosting of audio content
• Apple App Store & Google Play — payments and subscription management
• Vercel — hosting for this website
• Privacy-respecting analytics — aggregate, non-identifying usage statistics

Each provider has its own privacy policy and data-processing terms. Noctaras does not send your journal notes or check-ins to any third-party AI service.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your journal notes, check-ins, streaks, and preferences are stored on your device. Audio is streamed from our servers. If you create an account, your account data is stored securely with Firebase. All data in transit is protected with HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed to provide the service or as required by law:

• On-device data stays until you delete it or remove the app
• Account data: kept while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of a deletion request
• Payment records: retained by the app stores as their terms and financial regulations require
• Support communications: retained for 2 years

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights over your personal data:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion — request deletion of your personal data
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Objection — object to processing of your data for marketing
• Withdraw consent — withdraw any consent you previously gave, at any time

8. Cookies

This website uses essential cookies needed for it to function, plus privacy-respecting analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser, though some parts of the site may not work as intended.

9. Children's Privacy

Noctaras is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the European Union). The app includes bedtime stories a parent or guardian may choose to play for a child, but the account and any data belong to the adult who set it up. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International Data Transfers

Noctaras is operated globally. Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. By using the service, you consent to this transfer, and we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new policy here with an updated "Last updated" date, and for material changes we will email you if you have an account. Continued use of Noctaras after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
